reason #1002941 I love everything Disney.  this trailer makes me realize how much more as a grown up I appreciate Disney, even moreso than when I was a lil kid.

the typical “office holiday dinner”

There are the same usual elements in most work related office holiday dinners, that I feel serve the same function regardless of what professional industry you are in.  That purpose being a nice, few hours (but not too long) of a break where people talk like friends and behave a little more loosely all for the sake of saying “thank you” for hardwork.

Watermarke Tower had our dinner at Bottega Louie’s last night.  It was awesome.  Opened up our safe and pulled out $1000 in our petty cash stash, put it in an envelope, and walked to the restaurant.  Botegga Louie reminds me of eating somewhere in Vegas, Cesar’s Palace for some reason in particular, not sure why.

So these elements seem to carry over from every office holiday party that happens every year, in which most years I am at different offices (typically have been transferred to manage different properties on a yearly basis):

1.      Alcohol – tons of alcohol, bottles, shots of petron (wow, the VP was sitting next to me downing shots like it was dickjuice)

2.      Work laughs (if you ever seen Friends)

3.      Customer sh*t talking

4.      Executives and higher ups behaving super friendly  (and then resuming normal behavior the next day)

5.      Small, witty banter that seems to culminate in an “agreement Olympics” (i.e. “Oh I TOTALLY feel you” “that’s right!”)

6.      Telling stories about yourselves…and trying one-up each other

7.      Finding a polite way to say you want to go home and not go out after dinner

Or maybe that’s just me?  =)  happy holidays everyone.

holiday cheer

As 2010 draws to an end, I will admit I have been incredibly blessed and stupid all at once.  Good decisions, bad decisions, I will say I did it all.  No regrets but definitely some learning.  Sounds cliché but I guess that’s life.  Cheers to an awesome next two weeks: holiday fun fun fun with family and friends.  As I just moved out to LA from La Mirada, I am looking FW to spending a few nights again at my La Mirada home with everyone and their mama sleeping there.  I don’t have a room anymore buuut itll be fun to sleep out in the living room with food being made 24/7 and gifts being exchanged.

Also, cheers to staying in a POSITIVe and good mood as everyone including myself braves the malls for last minute gift shopping.  Sometimes we gotta remember to feel grateful we can shop and exchange gifts rather than complain and whine that it’s too crowded/hectic/crazy.

saw this at midnight last night.  theres something classic about everything DISNEY does, and TRON is no different.  The original TRON is hailed as both an incredibly campy and cheesy piece of sci fi yet at the same time is considered a cultclassic and a landmark in the sci fi CG genre.
This newer sequel will probably be just as divisive but have no doubt that it is a genuinely thrilling, breathtaking 2 hours of PURE popcorn entertainment - not an academy award winner but the movie does what movies are designed to do: take you to a whole new other world.  amazing.

economics and sociology ba to ma?

A curious thought entered my mind…I get these random sudden interests in things like GRAD SCHOOL and get excited for a hot second, then I am kind of dismissing the thought the next moment.  I don’t know if the appeal of continuing my education stems from the idea that that is what I “should” do or “suppose” to do or if I truly want to?  A part of me thinks if I really wanted to do I would have or would be doing it.

I get torn between the idea of doing it because I want to versus because I should.  What is worse/better?  Doing it because it seems like the natural route to go or doing it because I really want to?  And with that in mind, is it advisable to do it if it feels somewhat against my own desire to?  I can’t figure out if I am just lazy and I should do it in SPITE of my laziness, or if maybe what I an interpreting as lazy is really a sign that school is not for me at the moment?
